| Presentation abstract: | In this presentation I want to show the available options for encrypting data as it flows and moves through an Oracle based application. To this end I will discuss the commercial and free options to prevent data theft on the network as data is transferred into and out of the database. I will also investigate in detail the use of the built in database packages for encrypting data and show the issues related to key management and possible theft of data. I will also discuss the recent addition of Transparent Database Encryption in the context of a total solution to prevent theft of critical data. I will conclude with a breif discussion of related technologies to prevent access to the encrypted data. |
