| Presentation abstract: | Business Intelligence has been both hyped up and dumbed down. Where BI was once a specialist niche, rightly it now fits the mantra of “Information for the Masses”. A coherent BI strategy must address the needs of all business users, from clerk to CEO, from recipient of routine reports to research boffin. It requires both simple-to-use point-and-click portals and powerful analytic tools, to deliver the real insight into a business. It makes simple sense to do this in a joined-up fashion. But by becoming more mainstream, BI strategy is now steered by the IT Department, driven by the need for a good architecture rather than specific business value. The focus is on delivering the information right when it should be on delivering the right information. |
