| Presentation abstract: | Complex software development cycles often require several test environments with production-like data. Supporting such requirements typically involves challenges such as high volumes, up-to-date content, limited resources, and quick refresh procedures. In this presentation I will demonstrate how to use Oracle Transportable Tablespaces to manage refreshes of test databases. I will show how snapshot technologies such as Veritas Storage Checkpoints dramatically reduce resource requirements and improve the manageability of the process. By the end of the presentation, you will see how you can manage 5-10 test clones of a large production database (say, 500GB) using only a fraction of the space usually required. Imagine refreshing those clones on demand, independently of each other, and from the same production capture in only 5-20 minutes! |
