Presentation abstract: This presentation will give the audience a practical orientation to the Oracle shared pool. We will discuss the purpose and contents of the pool, structure of specific objects in the pool, tuning and diagnosing shared pool issues like ORA-4031, and some exciting improvements in the 10gR2 shared pool.

Speaker biography: Connie Green is a performance engineer in database development at Oracle HQ in Redwood Shores. Her experience with Oracle began 15 years ago in Australia as a Forms developer, then DBA. After moving to the UK, she joined Oracle as a RDBMS support engineer, and subsequently transferred to the US for RMAN performance testing. Since then her main responsibilities include owning/developing Statspack, and resolving database related performance issues.
