Presentation abstract: Two of Oracle's newest and most popular database development tools are Application Express (APEX) and SQL Developer. Get insight and practical advice on how database developers can use these tools to build database centric applications. The APEX discussion will cover building and using packaged applications focusing in on how to leverage an ever growing community repository of fully functional applications and application components. With SQL Developer learn how you can enhance your SQL and PL/SQL development workflow and even share powerful SQL Developer reports and charts.

In addition to being Vice President for these database tools, Mike is an active developer for APEX. In this talk, Mike will leverage his experience developing, using and managing these tools to demonstrate short examples of the technology.

Speaker biography: Michael Hichwa is vice president of Software Development, Server Technologies for Oracle Corporation. Mike joined Oracle in 1988, working with a number of groups including database support, sales consulting, consulting, internal IT, and most recently development. Mike has worked with the Oracle database, Oracle Forms, and PL/SQL, more recently focussing his efforts on developing HTML font ends to Oracle databases. He designed and led the development of WebDB, which became Oracle Portal, and in 1999 started development of Oracle Application Express. In 2006, he led the team who produced Oracle SQL Developer, Oracle's most downloaded tool. Mike has a hands-on management style and still contributes large amounts of code.
