| Presentation abstract: | Do DBAs spend most of their time investigating new features, building RAC clusters and recovering databases? No, our days are filled with writing or following Standards. We argue about them, improve them and document them. This is in spite of Optimal Flexible Architecture being defined well over a decade ago and being the default Oracle installation model. So how well does OFA apply to today's environments and why do people choose to ignore specific recommendations? This presentation will argue that the underlying reason is that, whilst people understand what OFA looks like, they don't truly understand the problems it was designed to address in the first place. |
