Presentation Title: A Multitier Approach to Performance Diagnosis
Speaker: Mr Daniel Fink
Company: OptimalDBA
Co-presenter:
Presentation abstract: What do you do when a user calls with a performance problem? Enable sql trace, look at a Statspack report or query instance views and the event interface? While one approach will work some of the time, being able to use all of them will enable you to more effectively and properly diagnose and resolve performance issues. Using a combination of processes, queries/commands and case studies, the presentation examines the strengths and weaknesses of each approach; installation and configuration of sql trace triggers and statspack; how to use multiple approaches to identify and confirm performance problem root causes.
