Presentation abstract: An Oracle Applications system is installed using Rapid Install, a GUI-based tool that can create a new, fully configured Oracle Applications system. This presentation describes how Release 12 enhances the installation process in various ways. The overall installation process has been streamlined, with fewer questions to answer. Choices on many screens have been simplified, and installations can often be performed using default or recommended values.

Several of the Rapid Install changes reflect enhancements to the underlying Oracle Applications technology stack. These architectural changes will be outlined, with emphasis being placed on their impact on installation of an Oracle Applications system.

Speaker biography: Robert Farrington has worked for Oracle for 12 years, initially providing support and consultancy for the Oracle Database on UNIX and Windows, and subsequently spending a period designing database internals courses. For the last 8 years, he has been a member of the Applications Technology Group in Oracle Development. Robert has presented papers at Oracle User Group conferences in Europe and the United States, and at Oracle OpenWorld.
